Nicht ohne Grund gibt es strenge Vorschriften über die Kontrolle von Lebensmittel hinsichtlich etwaiger Rückstände an Schimmelpilzgiften (Mykotoxine), die zu den natürlichen Giften gehören und insbesondere Langzeitschäden verursachen.

With a follow-up on the ERS 2011, we would like to provide significant information about this topic.

Several posters (P…) and discussions on anti-IgE treatments were presented at ERS. The trend includes the investigation on the mechanism of this therapy and the search for new methods for monitoring of the effects. In a study (P268), it was first reported that the dose protocol for Omalizumab was successfully lowered.

The search for additional therapeutic effects was in focus of other reports, e.g. wall thickness and airway inflammation (P267), protective effects in ultra rush immunotherapy (P270), and basophil degranulation test (P271). Another focus (P277) was the eligibility of anti-IgE in severe asthma.

The recoveryELISA from BioTeZ still is the only test which provides the possibility of measurement of antibody and the antigen during treatment with an antibody (P3350 and P4054).

All other immunological tests should be avoided during antibody treatment because they have a massive interference with the therapeutic antibodies. This not only occurs in IgE-tests but also in other cases of antibody treatments.

By using the recoveryELISA, 3 results from human serum samples within the same assay are determined

• Free antigen, e.g. IgE levels
• Available therapeutic antibody (TA), e.g. Omalizumab
• Interaction between antigen and TA dose-effect-relation with respect to the TA and antigen levels in the sample

The following curve shows the higher level of Omalizumab the lower contribute to further reduction of the IgE level.
