Immobilization of Biomolecules and Streptavidin Microplates

Streptavidin is a tetrameric protein (4 x 13 kDa), which binds very tightly to the small molecule Biotin. The binding constant for this interaction is very high (Ka ~ 1013 M-1) and turns the Streptavidin/Biotin system into a basis of many biochemical applications. Streptavidin-coated surfaces are characterised by very low nonspecific bindings.

Streptavidin coating of solid phases offers a universal immobilization principle for the detection and analysis of proteins, peptides, PCR-fragments, haptens etc.

Our streptavidin-coated products are ready-to-use. Additional washing or blocking steps are not necessary.

A basic prerequisite for the use of streptavidin-coated surfaces involves the use of components in biotinylated form. The biotinylation of these molecules is very simple and is a standard technique in many labs. Please contact us for our labelling service.

In the last few years we have focused our research on streptavidin modification and conjugation. We have innovative streptavidin coatings on many different surfaces (glass, plastics, metals, microspheres etc.) of very high biotin binding capacity and excellent thermo- and chemostability (up to +90°C) to improve your applications.

We also provide a special coating solution of our new Polystreptavidin molecule called Polystrept R for manufacturing your own Streptavidin surfaces with a very high biotin binding capacity.

Immobilizations to separate a target molecule we propose our services for custom immune affinity columns with activated Perl cellulose (for big-scale applications also).

Streptavidin Microplates:

BioTeZ streptavidin-coated microplates are manufactured by special procedures and patents guarantee a high homogeneity and reproducibility of the coated surface. Our coated microplates are suitable for immunoassays and also DNA hybridization assays.
